Cuba is elected to the Human Rights Council
When a stake is driven through the heart of a vampire

MIAMI, May 10. Wherever they rule, right-wingers manage to create an image of reality very different from the real one that truly exists in those societies. In the case of Miami, a quite less complex city being only one city and taking into account the composition and power of its dominant sectors and how they use such power right-wingers have a better chance to twist and manipulate at will that image of a reality so out of line with the true one.

I am referring here to the image of Cuba created by Cuban-American right-wingers out of their unchangeable and tenacious lies about the Cuban Revolution. Since the whole big English and Spanish press is available to them, they can speak their mind freely.

The main problem about this phony Cuban reality is that when you come across or run into the true thing, the one lies can neither control nor change, it's like when a stake is driven through the heart of a vampire.

So it has just happened with Cuba's election onto the new United Nations Human Rights Council. You should have seen the faces of those big and small anti-Cuban elements who had seemingly gathered there to celebrate Cuba's non-inclusion in the Council. It looks as if Condoleezza and the rest of her buddies from the State Department and the White House were misinformed. I was lucky to see the faces of some of these gloomy characters in a news program last night. They looked thunderstruck when they heard that Cuba had been elected as a founding member of the new Human Rights Council, made up of 47 countries, by 135 votes, more than two thirds of the 191 UN member states.

How could it be possible when, according to their lies, to that phony reality they have created and manipulated to the lies they went so far as to believe themselves, as alienated as they are from the true reality "Cuba has been 'condemned'" over fifteen times (or is it fifteen thousand times, or maybe fifteen million times?) as a violator of human rights (of all human rights) by the nearly deceased UN Human Rights Commission?

They invented that lie and bred it here in Miami for the last twenty years. They and their media here imposed it as an unquestionable truth. Ah, but that far-from-the-truth reality bumped into the real one yesterday. And the vampires were dumbfounded and shattered.

Yesterday, in the UN General Assembly, Cuba's reality became established around the world despite all the power of the United States, their allies and their puppet rulers in Latin America and Europe. Yesterday, in the United Nations, all efforts by Cuba and its people for the benefit of the basic, fundamental human rights were acknowledged and rewarded by the international community against the Empire's arrogant will.

You should have seen the expression those deceiving figures showed in their faces, how the truth was making them waste away. They were all seated there, giving an image fit for one of Goya's painting, like that of Charles V's family. There was A-one questioner Ninoska, so taken aback as to become speechless and unable to talk to the press; "Ivy" Iriondo, the impassive vulture with a woman's face who could only manage to talk a few nonsense words as usual; and as a coda to this event, terrorist Martín Pérez, a Batista sympathizer and son of a killing henchman, pretending to be cool and saying that the outcome was to be expected because of the state the world it's in!

And he's right, look at the way things are now in the world, especially in Latin America! Cuba's election onto the new Council is a reflection of that, as are the political and social processes now taking place in Venezuela and Bolivia. And those vampires had better be ready for some changes in their own everyday reality, considering what's in the offing. Their main support is the Bush administration, which seems to be collapsing and fading away. The latest opinion poll made by the CBS and The New York Times and published today shows that president Bush's level of approval went down to 31% six months to Congressional elections. It also shows that only 13% of those polled support the Government's performance concerning fuel prices; 28% approve its overall economic policy; 25% its immigration policy; 27% its foreign policy; and 39%, that is, 8% less than last January, its policy in Iraq. Besides, two thirds of respondents are in no way confident that the U.S. can win in Iraq.

Things don't look at all good for phony reality makers in counterrevolutionary Miami. Things don't look at all good for the enemies of the Cuban people and their worn-out, defeated policies.

La elección de Cuba al Consejo de Derechos Humanos
Cuando a un vampiro se le clava una estaca en el corazón

MIAMI, 10 de mayo.—En todos los países donde domina la reacción esta logra crear una imagen de la realidad ajena a la verdadera, a la que realmente existe en esas sociedades. En el caso de Miami, por ser una ciudad mucho menos compleja —por ser solo una ciudad, por la composición y poder de los sectores dominantes y cómo estos son capaces de ejercer ese poder— la reacción tiene mayor oportunidad de crear y manipular a su antojo esa imagen de una realidad ajena a la verdadera.

En este caso me refiero a la imagen de Cuba, creada por la reacción cubanoamericana, producto de sus invariables y tenaces mentiras sobre la Revolución cubana. Con todos los grandes medios de la prensa, en español y en inglés, a su disposición, se despacha sobre estas cuestiones a su antojo.

El problema fundamental de esta falsa realidad de Cuba es cuando se encuentra, se topa, con la verdadera realidad, la que las mentiras no pueden controlar ni cambiar. Entonces es como cuando a un vampiro se le clava una estaca en el corazón.

Así acaba de suceder al ser electa Cuba al nuevo Consejo de Derechos Humanos de las Naciones Unidas. Había que haberles visto las caras a los grandes y pequeños personajes de la contrarrevolución cubana que tal parece se habían reunido para festejar la no inclusión de Cuba al Consejo. Parece que Condoleezza y sus otros socios en el Departamento de Estado y en la Casa Blanca les informaron mal. Tuve la suerte de verles las caras a algunos de estos tristes personajes anoche durante uno de los noticieros televisivos. Es como si sus rostros se hubiesen disecado al saber la noticia que Cuba había sido electa como miembro fundador del nuevo Consejo de Derechos Humanos, compuesto por 47 países, por 135 votos, más de dos tercios de los 191 estados miembros de la ONU.

¿Cómo era esto posible si de acuerdo a sus mentiras, a esa falsa realidad de Cuba creada y manipulada por ellos —a las mentiras que ellos mismos, tan enajenados de la verdadera realidad, llegan a creerse— Cuba ha sido “condenada” ... más de quince veces (¿o es quince mil veces, o será quince millones de veces?)— por ser violadora de los derechos humanos (todos los derechos humanos) por la casi difunta Comisión de Derechos Humanos de la ONU?

Esa mentira la crearon ellos y la nutrieron ellos aquí en Miami durante los últimos veinte años. La impusieron ellos y su prensa aquí como verdad incuestionable. Ah, pero ayer esa realidad ajena a la verdad se topó con la verdadera. Y los vampiros quedaron anonadados, hechos polvo.

Ayer en la Asamblea General de la ONU se impuso la realidad de Cuba en el mundo a pesar del poderío del gobierno de Estados Unidos, de sus aliados y de sus gobiernos títeres en la América Latina y en Europa. Ayer en la ONU la labor de Cuba, del pueblo cubano, a favor de los derechos humanos esenciales, los fundamentales, fue reconocida y premiada por la comunidad internacional en contra de la soberbia de la voluntad imperial.

Había que verle la expresión en los rostros a esos personajes creadores de la mentira, la verdad los consumía. Ahí estaban todos sentados, era una imagen digna, como la de la familia de Carlos IV, de ser pintada por Goya. Ahí estaban, la picotera mayor, la Ninoska, tan desajustada que se quedó muda y no pudo hablarle a la prensa; la Hiedra, la inmutable buitre con rostro de mujer, la Iriondo, que solo pudo decir unas boberías, típicas de ella; y entonces, como colofón, el terrorista Martín Pérez, batistiano, hijo de esbirro batistiano asesino, intentando aparentar calma al decir que lo ocurrido era de esperarse debido a cómo está el mundoÁ

Y no se equivoca, ¡cómo está el mundo, especialmente la América Latina! Y la elección de Cuba al nuevo Consejo lo refleja. Y los procesos políticos y sociales en Venezuela y Bolivia también lo reflejan. Y que se preparen para los cambios en su realidad cotidiana estos vampiros, por lo que se avecina. Su soporte mayor, la administración Bush, parece desintegrarse, parece que se va a bolina. El más reciente sondeo de opinión pública realizado por el New York Times y la CBS, dado a conocer hoy, refleja que el nivel de aprobación del presidente Bush ha descendido al 31%, a seis meses de las elecciones congresionales. Indica, además, que solo el 13% de los encuestados apoya la gestión de la Administración en relación al precio de los combustibles; el 28% aprueba su política económica general; el 25% aprueba su política con los inmigrantes; el 27% su política exterior; el 39%, un descenso del 8% desde enero pasado, aprueba su política en Iraq; y que dos tercios de los encuestados no tiene la menor confianza que pueda ganar su guerra en Iraq.

No pinta nada bien para los fabricantes de realidades falsas en el Miami contrarrevolucionario. No pinta nada bien para los enemigos del pueblo cubano y su política desgastada y derrotada.
