Self-critical analysis by Cuban farmers

CAUTO CRISTO, Granma province -- Displaying
embarrassment, courage, and patriotism, Cuban farmers in this eastern
village, capital of the municipality of the same name, criticized
themselves for not making good use of available resources.
With Orlando Lugo Fonte, president of the National Association of Small
Farmers (ANAP), in attendance, members of the Carlos Bastidas
Agricultural Production Cooperative (CPA) acknowledged that for years
labor and organization were lacking in that body.
They also noted that these were the main causes for the CPA's not
meeting its objectives, its indebtedness to the state, and the
inadequate personal incomes.
In the rank-and-file assembly, stipulated in the
program of the Tenth Congress of the ANAP scheduled for next May, they
said that their results would back up the declarations of the ANAP
president that were published last Friday in the daily Granma.
They stated that the Cooperative has the potential to sell 100,000
quintales of food, vegetables, and grains annually to the state; but in
the year 2008 they only reached 6,200, although for 2009 the situation
began to be turned around with the delivery of 33,000, and in 2010 the
successful trajectory should be consolidated with 45,000.
According to reports, the CPA's debt totals more than 5 million pesos,
most of it without productive backing, but the new credits it receives
are subject to controls, supervision, and guarantees of adequate
repayment.
The agreements at the meeting, the first of its type held in the
municipality of Cauto Cristo, are aimed at making better use of the work
day, quality preparation of the land and the harvests, using optimal
seeds, increasing the use of animal power, and boosting agricultural
yields.
They also called for systematic managerial attention to guarantee that
contracting, storing, and selling the harvests goes smoothly. (AIN)

Autocrítico análisis de campesinos cubanos
CAUTO CRISTO, Granma.— Como demostración de vergüenza, valor y patriotismo, campesinos cubanos se autocriticaron en este poblado oriental, capital del municipio homónimo, por no aprovechar bien los recursos disponibles.
En presencia de Orlando Lugo Fonte, presidente de la Asociación Nacional de Agricultores Pequeños (ANAP), socios de la Cooperativa de Producción Agropecuaria (CPA), Carlos Bastidas, reconocieron que faltaron trabajo y organización en la entidad durante años.
También manifestaron que esas fueron las causas principales de los incumplimientos en relación con los objetivos de la CPA, del endeudamiento con el Estado y de los insuficientes ingresos personales.
En la asamblea de base incluida en el programa del X Congreso de la ANAP, previsto para mayo próximo, dijeron que respaldarán con resultados las declaraciones del presidente de la ANAP publicadas el viernes último en el periódico Granma.
Precisaron que la Cooperativa tiene potencialidades para venderle al Estado cada año 100 000 quintales de viandas, hortalizas y granos; pero en el año 2008 llegó solo a 6 200, mientras que para el 2009 se comenzó a revertir tal situación al lograr 33 000 y en el 2010 debe afianzarse en la senda exitosa con 45 000.
Según se informó, la deuda de la CPA pasa de cinco millones de pesos, la mayor parte sin respaldo productivo, pero los nuevos créditos que recibe tienen el control, la supervisión y la garantía de pagos adecuados.
Los acuerdos de la reunión, primera de su tipo en el municipio de Cauto Cristo, están dirigidos a aprovechar mejor la jornada laboral, realizar con calidad la preparación de la tierra y las siembras, emplear semillas óptimas e incrementar el uso de la tracción animal y los rendimientos agrícolas.
También exigieron sistematicidad en la atención empresarial para garantizar fluidez en la contratación, el acopio y la comercialización de las cosechas. (AIN)
