Edited by Walter Lippmann. ![]() ![]() Ruiz Martin criticized those which didn’t fulfill their plans, especially units belonging to the Ministry of Sugar. He said destinations and marketing of agricultural products should be controlled, and that resources and lands should be used to better advantage. The organization of the current potato harvest was set as an example, because more than 700,000 pounds of potatoes were harvested per caballeria [1caballeria = 13.4 hectares]. The organization methods used should be applied to other crops. The Plenum warned about recollection peaks and called for extra work so that not even one kilo of product would be lost. The recent tomato crop was set as an example; more than 5.2 thousand tons were harvested and delivered to the industry. The pineapple crop was also very good; the number of pineapples harvested was bigger than ever before in the province. During the meeting the need to increase those products that substitute imports like rice, beans, and garlic was also discussed. |
